鉄を素材とした彫刻作品・平面作品を制作しています。
作品制作を始めた頃、漠然と美しいものを作りたいと思いました。それは、私たち人間の体や植物、生命の形、いわゆる自然に生み出された形です。ただ、それらを目にみえる表面の形で表現するのではなく、それらがどのようにできているのか考えたとき、無数の細かい細胞や血管によって形作られていることに意外性を感じ、私の作る作品もそれらと同じように無数の細かいものの集積によって形作れば、人が自然物を見た時と同じような感覚を鑑賞者に与えてくれるのではないかと思い、制作しています。
また、私が素材として使用している鉄という素材の魅力は、人工物でありながら自然物のような素材であることです。それは鉄の特性である錆びていく様が、生き物や植物が朽ち、なくなっていく様、或るものはいつか朽ち、無くなっていく、自然の巡りを感じさせる素材であると感じます。
I create sculptures and two-dimensional works using iron as my material.
When I first started creating art, I vaguely wanted to create something beautiful. That beauty lies in the forms of the human body, plants, and life itself—in other words, the forms created by nature. However, instead of simply expressing these forms on a visible surface, I was struck by the surprise of how they are formed—by countless tiny cells and blood vessels. I believe that if my works are also formed by the accumulation of countless tiny elements, they will evoke a similar feeling in the viewer as when they see natural objects.
Furthermore, the appeal of iron, the material I use, lies in its natural qualities despite being artificial. The way iron rusts evokes the decay and disappearance of living things and plants—the natural cycle of things eventually decaying and vanishing.
